Ankle Injury Fitness Testing

Professional fitness testing after ankle injury. Sprain, fracture, and surgery recovery support with appropriate equipment selection for ankle healing.

Ankle injuries range from simple sprains to complex fractures. VO₂ max testing helps:

  • Maintain cardiovascular fitness during healing
  • Non-weight-bearing testing during immobilization
  • Progressive testing as weight-bearing increases
  • Return-to-running assessment when cleared

Early (Non-Weight-Bearing): Wahoo KICKR Bike-seated, minimal ankle involvement

Mid (Partial Weight-Bearing): Continue bike, consider seated rowing

Late (Full Weight-Bearing): Progress to treadmill when cleared for running

Grade I-II sprains: Test on bike within weeks, progress to running when cleared
Grade III sprains: Longer recovery, bike testing during healing phase

Post-fracture or post-surgical recovery:

  • Bike testing during non-weight-bearing phase
  • Maintain cardio fitness while bone heals
  • Treadmill when cleared for weight-bearing

For runners recovering from ankle injury:

  • Cardiovascular fitness assessment
  • Running gait evaluation (outside scope)
  • Training zones for graduated return

VO₂ Max Test: $250

Complete cardiovascular assessment for post-ankle injury recovery. Equipment selected based on weight-bearing status.

Medical/PT clearance required.
